A cambodgian dude sent for 1000$ a camera into the upmost layer of the athmosphere with ballons. Why not use a truckload of giant helium ballons to send as high as possible a small 'satellite' of perhaps a few kilograms with retrorockets that will make it escape earths gravity and to the moon where it will take a few snapshots before crashing.
