Can we hire a lawyer against my landlord?

For the past two months we have not been able to use my backyard or park in our driveway. He hired a contractor to work on the apartment and he made a mess of the backyard with rotting wood, nails and it is absolutely unsafe. This 4th of July we were going to have a cookout, but he told us due to the condition we can not. He also has a boat which he parks in the driveway and now his family has been parking in the driveway every weekend and i mean his whole family. Our lease clearly states backyard usage and 1 off street parking space. Is there anything we can do? Please help

You can hire an attorney, or you can file in civil court on your own to enforce the rental agreement. Just be aware that as soon as you file the suit or hire an attorney, the Land Lord will find a reason to evict you. So instead of enforcing the contract, you should sue to terminate the contract and move to avoid having the eviction on your record.
