can we charge a toyota prius high voltage battery or does it need replacing

which costs about $5000? i have a toyota prius 2000 generation 2 working as taxi. it was recently in an accident and was in the garage for two weeks. the high voltage battery is now flat and i am just wondering if i can charge the battery up or does it need a new battery. does anyone know the reasons to why the battery is flat? i would be very thankful for your responses.

My mate who works at Toyota garage reckons you need to get a new one because once the battery is completely flat it wont recharge again.
