Can the digital tuner in a VCR act as a converter box for analog tv?

I want to keep using my VCRs after the changeover. A DVR would not fit my situation. I get my signal thru rabbit ears & currently have analog tvs. Would it work to get a VCR with a digital tuner & watch tv through the VCR to get the digital channels? I mostly tape shows & watch them later.
 
no it wont ..i work for cable i know ..i get ppl like u everyday ..stop being old fashion
