Can someone tell me what wrong with 1996 ford probe gt with a 2.5 engine?

I replace the muffler, fuel filter, catayal converter, spark plugs, mass air flow sensor. I don't know what else it could be
THen engine sounds fine when my dad brings it to 3500 rmps when it is idleing it surges what could be the problem?
