My back hurts all the time and was sent for an MRI.Can anybody tell me what this means.Schmorl's node formation at T12-L1 andL1-L2.
L1-L2 Desiccation of the disc mild retrolisthesis,droad-base disc displacement and mild facet arthropathy, mild central canal stenosis, mild bilateral exiting neural foraminal stenosis.
L2-L3 Shallow disc displacment in the biforaminal position with mild to moderate facet arthropathy results in mild exiting neural foraminal stenosis.
L3-L4 Broad-base disc displacement and superimposed central protrusion, mild to moderate facet arthropathy, mild to moderate stenosis and mild bilateral exiting neural foraminal stenosis.
L4-L5 Broad-base disc displacment in biforaminal position along with mild to moderate facet arthropathy results in mild central stenosis, mild bilateral exiting neural foraminal stenosis and abutment of bilateral descending L5 nerves.
L5-S1 Mild retrolisthesis with shallow disc displacement along with moderate facet arthropathy contributes to mild to moderate bilateral exiting neural foraminal stenosis and abutment of bilateral exiting L5 nerves.
THORACIC SPINE- A hemagioma at T7,shallow bulging disc at T6-T7 and T7-T8 abutting the ventral aspect of the thoracic cord.
Anterior spondylotic protrusion at the mid and lower thoracic disc levels.
Lower cervical spondylostenosis is noted.
CERVICAL SPINE-Mucous retention cyst along the floor of the right maxillary sinus.
C2-C3 nominal disc displacement
C4-C5 shallow broad-base disc displacement/bulg that abuts the cervical cord.
C5-C6 Anterior spondylotic protrusion.Posteriorly broad-based spondylotic protrusion that mildly effaces the ventral cervical cord. The spondylotic protrusion also encroaches into the right foramen with the foraminal disc/osteophyte complex resulting in moderate grade right foraminal stenosis.Mild narrowing of the left foramen is also noted.
C6-C7,Shallow spondylotic protrusion broad-based more prominent right paracentral minimally flattening the ventral cord.Mild encroachment into the neural foramen bilaterally with minimal biforaminal narrowing is noted.Fluid containing structure measuring 13mm in diameter in the midline along the floor of the oral cavity.A subglossal cyst is the primary consideration. This measures approximately 12x13.

Wow! It's hard to know where to begin without writing a book.

You have alot going on. In your lurabar spine.. seems all your discs are drying out (aka Desiccation). Where the term "retrolisthesis" is, means those bony processes there are not in the normal position, but have slipped back to some degree (which makes your spine quite unstable). Most of your facets in the lurabar spine are "arthritic" for ease of explanation. Also have alot of stenosis is varying degrees in this area too, which narrows the opening that the nerves run through the spine, and often can cause a "squeezing" or "pinching" of the cord.

Your thoracic spine. Hemangioma is a cyst/lesion type structure, that is generally not harmful and is benign. These can appear and often go away all by themselves and are often not surgically removed unless they impose a health risk in the area in which they are. You have a few discs bulging here with on abutting the cord, but does not mention it pressing on it. the spondlyotic term, means your spine is compressed somewhat in those areas (again causes spine instability).

Your cervical spine. I think you can construct what's going on there using some of the info above to give you an idea of is going on there. But at C6-C7, you have some form a cyst or tumor or something that is obviously fluid based, near the oral cavity.

That's a quick response to what I read in a way that should make sense.

Is this the first MRI of your spine you've had done? Are all these issues new to you? Whoever you are seeing, you need to be treated by a very good spine surgeon.

I hope the above helps you some and please keep us posted.

Sorry It took so long to answer you back, I am a newbie and I had a hard time logging in. about three years ago I hurt my back at work and they sent me for an mri through workman's comp. but the Dr. said It was arthritis and they gave me PT for three weeks with no restriction's. Well I took a early retirement in 07. Every since then It has been down hill. first In April of 07 I found out I have (P A D) had to have a stent put In my left leg and 65% block In my right leg and then my back got worse. Now I have problems walking, standing, ect, ect. My Family Dr. Is sending me to a neurosurgeon to help me with my back. I am trying to get ssd know,my plan was to get out the plant and start a delivery service but I cant do that now.:angel:
