So, I went to this Vietnamese restaurant in Kensington and got beef and rice noodle soup. It had some pretty average ingredients but they added something different that I've never seen before. It was white and had a bunch of really tiny bumps on them (almost tongue-like). They were in rectangle strips and the texture was extremely chewy. I was thinking it could be squid as it had a similar taste, but I've never seen anything that looked like this strange ingredient.
