it cost $75 to start a case. they wont start one against you and even if they did tell the truth of the agreements. you are sure to win if it happens

So, i had someone homeless, stay with me for free, and she decided to move into my apartment complex, i offered to give her half the referral money of 250 dollars, only if she didn't get first month's rent free, because she doesn't have a job. Well she moved in, and got the free months rent, and is now claiming I OWE her money. one, i only gave a verbal agreement. Can she take me to court for this. If so, i have no choice but to pay the money, but i think it's unfair for her to ask for more, when she got a whole months rent free, and me only getting 250 off

A verbal contract is valid, but what you've described is not a contract. In order for a contact to be valid anywhere in the US, there must be consideration on both sides (both sides must get something from it). Since you were asking for nothing, it's nothing but a promise. Promises are not enforceable in a court, even if breaking them is unfair (though that doesn't seem to be the case here).

It's incorrect that you have no choice but to pay if she sues. You can appear at the hearing and contest. Assuming what you've written here is correct, she has no grounds on which to prevail.

Plus, as a bonus, the judge will probably give her the riot act over her over-blown sense of entitlement, and you don't wanna miss that. ;)

forget it ever happened. Dont think about it and dont let it worry you. Its nothing. Sometimes if you give someone an inch they try and take a mile. This hobo was accepted into your home then spat in your face.
Forget about this incident and this person and move on with your life
