So I recently purchased a used iPod Touch 1.1.5 off Ebay. The thing is in great shape and yeah, I know it's totally outdated, but it gets the job done, so for the most part I'm pretty happy. However, I'm having an insanely difficult time upgrading the firmware in order to access the Apps. I'm pretty tech-savvy and I succeeded in jailbreaking the iPod once already, but I used Ziphone, which apparently doesn't include the Installer and Cydia anymore. Anytime I download a new version of iPod's firmware and try to Shift+Click Restore it, I get an error message telling me my iPod is not compatible (I've tried versions 2,1_2.2 and 2,1_4.1 thus far.) Plus, when I tried using QuickPwn it would stop working mid-session and give me an error message every time.
Basically, at this point of the game I'm wondering if:
1.) It's even POSSIBLE to jailbreak a 1.1.5 iPod anymore, since I've tried literally everything and haven't succeeded yet.
2.) I should just suck it up and buy 2.1.2 (or whatever firmware version it was) that's offered for $10 through iTunes... if I download it off iTunes, is it more likely to be compatible with my iPod, or will it still not work because of the generational difference?
3.) An iPod Touch 1.1.5 can even be upgraded to the next generation's firmware, because I'm having one hell of a time trying to do it.
So, if anybody can explain this to me, or walk me through the steps, I would be extremely grateful. Obviously I'd like to be able to access some Apps, but if that's not possible I'd at least like to know so this problem will stop nagging at me.
(SERIOUSLY INTENDED ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE, I don't need tons of people posting here with useless comments about how I should have just dropped the extra $150 for a new iPod, etc...)
