wanna know why

hi all,
i am really really really having hard time understanding the cell cycle.
the thing that CONFUSES ME:
it is written that after mitotic division the each cell will end up having chromatids that has one DNA molecule??
that then will replicate itself during interphase b4 next cell division?
and in other book it says: during S phase which comes b4 mitosis the cell replicate its content so it has ( THE DNA needed for both cells).
then why we get separation of the two sister cromatids and then replicate hem again if we already have the enough DNA???
plz plz plz answer my question in detail
