Can someone Please answer this question about Civilization IV?

I just recently got civilization IV for my pc and i want to know how can i attack an enemy's territory? I know you have to declare war on them and i did but for some reason i can't even send my people onto there territory. Please help
 
sry cant help u much i had that game or atleast the third one it sucked may i recommend a better game thats similar it's age of empires (kind of like civilization but has alot better graphics and is more fun and honestly alot easier to understand ) try age of empires its way better and its also for pc
 
Do your people have to trespass other country's territory to get to the country you've declared war? If yes, Then that's why you cannot, You have to make a deal with this person to 'Open Borders'... That's the only reason I can remember now...
