I was driving my car the other day and out of nowhere i lost the ability to accelerate. I'd press down on the gas pedal and instead of my car accelerating, i slowed down and heard a strange buzzing sound. I popped my hood and looked at the drivetrain belt i think it is (with the car running) there are 7 round looking things in which the belt goes around.. all of the round things were spinning except for one.. im sorry im not very automotibe literate, but i think all round wheel things should be spinning. is this an expensive problem to fix? is my belt too loose? do i need new barings?? help please

well to start the belt is a accessory serpentine belt. the seven round looking things are pulleys. the belt is suppose to make contact with all the pulleys. the pulleys are connected to things like your water pump, alternator, power steering, A/C, crankshaft, emissions, and then your idler pulley. which is spring loaded. that is what puts the tension on your belt to give it the correct tension on the belt. to check the belts tension with the engine off. press down on the belt between 2 pulleys and there should be only a slight give. too much, or no give means that the tensioner is malfunctioning.
