moving to college
part 1 your older brother will graduate from high school this year and move away to college. he has already received scholarship to several universities but your very money conscious father is already concerned about the cost of moving your brother to his new college town. in fact, he has already researched three rental truck companies and has come up with the following information:
u-haul 10 foot truck $19.99 per day $.99 per mile
penske 10 foot truck $59.99 per day $.69 per mile
budget 10 foot truck $39.99 per day $ .79 per mile
each of these companies requires a minimum 4 day rental for one way rentals outside the DFW area, which is what your brother will be using. Your dad, however, has a problem. He doesn't remember enough math to know how to properly analyze this information. So, because he knows that your're taking pre-ap algebra 2 he is asking for your help. here is what he initially wants to know:

you must show your dad the solution to his problem using the 3 different methods for solving systems of linear equations that we have studied, namely graphing ,substitution, and elimination
Part 2 your brother has narrowed down his options to the following three universities university of california at inrvine, texas tech university, and university of colorado at denver. determine the mileage from where you live to each of these universities and calculate the minimum rental truck cost for a one way trip to each
Part 3 at last your brother has made his final decision university of colorado at denver. now calculate the total gasoline cost for this trip and add it to the rental truck cost from part 2.
Presentation you may display your findings from all three parts using any media your prefer and design a handbook/guide for moving your sister who graduates next year. you may use but are not limited to : powerpoint point , pencil and paper, or any other media of your preference.
