I asked a similar question (link above) a few days ago and the help I received was tremendous. But I ran into a wall concerning the NHL results. As you might know, the NHL makes it difficult for me to find a way to assign a letter to indicate one of four possible outcomes.
Where I can construct a formula that results in a "W", "L" or "T" for soccer and football and a "W" or "L" for baseball and basketball, in hockey I need to find a way to make either a "W", "L", "SOL" or "OTL" appear.
I thought it would help that I designate whether or not a game was decided in OT or SO, which I have no problem doing manually. But in order for a seperate table to collate the outcomes for each team, again, I need to find a way to use those designations in one column to work in conjunction with the relationship between two other columns that each contain the score of the respective team. (The importance comes from the assignation of points in the NHL. This isn't the crux of my request here as I can make the team table take care of that.)
Here are three examples of what I'm trying to describe: ("-" denotes column separation)
1) Straight up win/loss: Team A - W - 3 - (blank) - 2 - L - Team B
2) Overtime win/loss: Team A - W - 3 - OT - 2 - OTL - Team B
3) Shootout win/loss: Team A - W - 3 - SO - 2 - SOL - Team B
