Can someone give me some information about Financial Aid?

I was wondering, if I get Financial Aid (I live in Michigan) to help me and my son out, would his father be required to pay child support? Is there a way that he doesn't have to pay child support? We're not married, so that's the main reason I was wondering, plus, I heard that in order to get food stamps or Financial Aid, he'd have to pay child support. (I'm trying to get a job, but I'm a teenage parent, and no one around here is hiring anyone under the age of 18) If there are any sites that have information, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :]

You will have to fill out a FAFSA form to see if you might be eligible for Financial Aid. If you have a child and are low income you most likely will be but the MOST you can get in a Pell grant is $5350 per year and in Stafford loans you'd be eligible for $9500. The financial aid process does not require the father to pay child support, just answer the questions on the form honestly.
