identities? Simplify: tan^2(x) - sin^2(x)

Solution: sin^4(x) / cos^2(x)

The answer is provided but using the trigonometric identities I can't follow the logic in reaching this conclusion. I would like to be able to comprehend the theory in reaching this solution. Would someone please explain the flow from start to finish?

(^2 = to the 2 power, ^4= to the fourth power)
