Can someone explain the physics of car mirrors to me? Which ones are convex,...

The outside mirror on the passenger side of most vehicles is convex, because it gives a wider field of view. The little message on most such mirrors also warns that things are closer than they appear, because it also will decrease the image size. Such mirrors are also sometimes glued onto the surface of a regular plane mirror used outboard for hauling trailors to give a wider view on either side of the vehicle.

Almost all other vehicle mirrors are usually plane mirrors.

Concave (magnifying) mirrors are not used in vehicles, except perhaps on a passenger side visor for use in facial adjustments.
