I mean, i understand that it's 6.022E23 amu, but I just need help understanding why/how it's used. Thanks for the help.
 
You understand that it's the atomic mass units expressed in grams right.
Well grams is what we use in the lab.
Avogadros number is just the relation of grams to atomic weight.
Really, it's just a convenient way of keeping track of the proportions of
reactants present. Any other unit would do as well in reference to At. Wt.
