Can riding bikes help lose wait?

I've been riding my a lot since school has been out. (May 29) And I don't think I've lost any weight. I've been weighing myself though, and I haven't been losing so much. It's only been about a pound or two a week that I've lost! So can riding bikes lose weight? I'd really like to know this, so please answer my freaking question!

Yes, cycling is very good for losing weight. You want to learn to pedal with a high cadence 70-90 rpm's with a lite pressure on the pedals. That will use your slow twitch muscles that use fat as a fuel. You also want to take it easy for the first 10 min to warm up. After the warm up pick a gear that will get your breathing to the point where you can still talk but not sing.

When you need to catch your breath or your legs start to hurt drop down a gear or two and keep going. You want to ride for distance not speed, the speed will increase automatically as you get stronger.

Cycling is very efficient and and you wont burn a whole lot of calories at first. The more you bike and the stronger you get the more calories you will burn. If you are not breathing hard or sweating you are not doing enough.

Yes, it is an excellent way!
I have just gotten into it myself.
I made sure to get a speedometer so I could make sure I was going over 12 MPH to get my cardio up that was about $20 and they installed it at the bike shop for me and showed me how to use it.
It keeps track of my avg mph and my milage aswell
I also got a watch with a heart rate monitor on it at Target for about $30 to be sure I was keeping my cardio up.

Absolutely! If you're consistent, riding bikes is an excellent way to exercise, and an efficient way to lose weight.
