I have a 2000 Ford Explorer and was recently rear ended by a small Camry. The only visible damage upon impact was the tailpipe was all twisted and sitting on my rear tire. Instead of having it towed the tow truck driver was able the push it off the tire so I could drive it to the mechanics about 2 miles away. Upon picking the car up from the repair shop I noticed the oil gage needle was spinning and the car was running rough. I immediately called the shop and they told me to check the oil and if it was fill it should be ok to drive. 5 miles later the car broke down and I had to have it towed. After checking the oil pressure the mechanic is telling me my only option is to rebuild the engine ( current mi 110k) . I'm now in a battle with the insurance co who is insisting this damage the engine has nothing to do with the accident. Mechanic doesn't want to get involved - any advice besides dumping the mechanic?
