I was diagonsed with duodanel ulcer 3 weeks back. I have been taking protonix 40mg, twice a day. Suddenly, just few days back my symptoms came back, burning sensation in upper abdomen, but this time i had little bit burning on the right side too. Is it possible that protonix is not working? Or something is wrong with the gallbladder.

I have been on protonix for several months now and it still is working for me. I also was diagnosed with duodenal ulcers. The only thing I notice is I almost seem to be dependent on protonix now, if I miss only 2 or 3 days in a row I'll get bad reflux all day.

I think any of them can stop working after awhile. I know my Dr. kept switching them around until he said there was no point in me taking any as I was wasting my time and money. I do know people that have taken OTC Prilosec for years and years and still doing just fine. As you know, we are all different. I say take whatever and in any amount you need to feel good!

I've been on protonix for five or six years, and it's never stopped working for me, though if I do cheat and eat something I'm not supposed to, it can get bad since I'm on the 40mg twice a day, too, which is the maximum dose.

I did have to go through three or four meRAB before I found protonix, though, all of which didn't work well.
