Can PPI cause worse symptoms than they cure?

I have been on omeprozole for three months to cure LPR, which in my case was a lump in my throat and phlegm. The first two months were o.k.; the lump went away and just had phlegm after brushing my teeth. This month though I have had stomach/intestinal issues and scariest of all, chest pain. I almost went to the emergency room. (A weel later my doctor did an EKG which was normal.) I also have a burning tongue and dry mouth. Does omeprozole cause this? Should I stop? I am getting very discouraged. I am drinking only water and am sticking to the food diet fairly well but having more problems than before the omeprozole.
Has anyone else had these symptoms? Has anyone gone off PPIs after 3 months and been ok?
 
I really don't think the PPI is causing your problems. It may not be strong enough to keep these symptoms of reflux away. You should tell your Dr. and he may change your meRAB. BTW, watch out for some toothpaste and mouthwashes. They can even cause a reflux reaction.

i have burning mouth etc, the PPI dont always work 100% for LPR this is because we are not typical gerd patients LPR is harder to treat and it sounRAB like you are still having symptoms and that the PPI is not working that well, you could try another like char said....i hope that you are on two PPI aday.........ness
