Can poetry heal as well as it can hurt?

We have seen the hurt, in the loss and heartache of our friends here. I would like to dedicate this to those who know and those who can see.

for all of the patients
there were losses

cold hours waiting
touched and probed

late night calls
told and turned

at days end
all he had to offer
were his words
he was a healer
not a poet

so in his time
he read
Lewis his favorite
Shakespeare with respect
Solemnly in Keats, noting his youth

he was well known
a bed side manner
like no other
compassionate
in the dark hours

and when his light shone
voices came to him
he listened to them all

lovely in tone
perfect in presence
like poetry
to him
