Can one use the alternator to convert their car into a hybrid?

I have a FWD automatic car, it is light, and has a great deal of excess trunk space that I could use. Is there a way to use the alternator to power two AC electric motors and use them to power the rear wheels? As it stands, both of the rear wheels are free spinning anyways (except for the brake). Then ultimately remove the transmission and FWD altogether?

If I cant use the current alternator, is there an alternative to the same idea.
