Can one "D" keep me from getting into a good law school?

I'm a second year undergrad university student, and most of my grades so far have been A's or A+'s although I had to do my science requirement. I'm awful at science and currently I'm getting a D in this course, maybe I could pull it up to a C by the end of the year. I really want to apply to the University of Toronto or McGill for law, will this one low grade prevent me from getting in?

Very possibly, yes. Nobody can say for sure, because it depends on what the other applicants' grades look like and how many they get that year. But McGill and Toronto are very popular, so there will probably be a lot of applications coming in, and the one with the D is less likely to be appreciated. You might get by with a single C if you can pull it up that high, but the D is not very well-liked in grad school admissions offices.
