Can my old net 10 phone still be used after I transfer my phone number to a new one?

I have had a net 10 phone for about a year and I recently bought a new one. I know I can transfer my current number to the new phone but I would like to give my old one away. Can a new number be assigned to the old phone so someone else can use it? Any information would be helpful, thanks.
