Can my old landlord take me to court for this?

Ok, here is the story. My husband and I moved into this house from out of state. We were not able to do a walk through before signing the lease because my husband is in the military and we had to clear our old duty station before we could go to our new one (where the house was located). When we got to the new house we realized that the house was waaaay to far from his work and was not very nice at all. We were able to get housing on post so we decided to move. We had only been staying in the house for about 2 months when we decided to move. The lease was for 1 year. Anyways, When we left the house they told us that we had to pay until they found someone to rent the house. Well, they found someone literally days after we moved out. The secretary for the landlord e-mailed us and told us that it was ok that we had moved out because they found someone else to live there and also asked for our forwarding address to send us our security deposit back. Now they are saying that they are not giving us our deposit back because of damages which is ok with us, but they are also saying that they want us to pay them $900+ for breach of contract. In our contract it states that we can get out of our lease if it is agreed upon within both parties. So can they take us to court for this? Also, if they can, would they win?

Yes, they can sue you for the cost of lost rent plus any expenses incurred to re-lease. Their agreement had to be in writing, BEFORE you vacated the house.
