have to follow on how much to tip? my employer requires me to tip 40% of tips to cooks, 5% to busser, 2% to hostess, and 3% to bartender. and its not of food sales or drink sales, its our overall sales.
Tipping out is a common practice for wait staff, and yes, your employer can tell you what percentage goes to other employees. The customer is tipping everyone who helped provide an enjoyable meal, not just you.
Yeah - that's standard. No real guideline on the split - your employer gets to make the rules. Waitress gets 50%, then the Cook gets the majority of the other 50%, followed by busboys who have to clean up the mess, bartenders and the hostess who seats people (who gets the least).
