...are down? I work as a customer service rep and I've just been advised by my manager that tomorrow everyone in customer service (we're not that many) is to bring their cell phones to work and our chargers. They want for us to use our own cell phones because the majority of the phone lines are down. So I guess we're supposed to take incomming calls on one line, write down a name and number and then call the customer back from our cell phone. I'm wondering if my employer can force us to do this. Because I honestly don't want to use my cell phone minutes to call all across the country all day tomorrow, and what will most likely last more than one day. Plus the only reason why I think most of the phone lines are down is because the owner of the company I work for is really cheap and hates paying people on time. So I think most of the lines were cut because he didn't pay for them. So this makes me think that I'm going to have to go through hell if I want to get my cell phone bill reimbursed (again, the owner of the company is incredibly greedy). So do I have any legal grounds to say no when it comes to this whole ordeal? Can they threaten to fire me or discipline me over this issue?
