I know I have depression and have since I was 14. When I was 14, I confided in a friend, who told my parents. It was one of the worst moments in my life. I convinced them it wasn't true and spent the past 4 years hiding it from them. I wanted to wait until I was 18 to get help so doctors wouldn't be allowed to tell them. But recently, I read somewhere that in CT, no matter how old you are, your doctors/therapists can tell your parents if you have thoughts of suicide. Is that true?
Also, is there somewhere I can get help with little-no cost? I only have a summer job and wouldn't want to use my parents' insurance.
Please don't tell me I should tell my parents. I know it apparently helps, but I've been there before and it did nothing but make me feel worse for months after. Knowing they are worrying about me will just stress me out more, which would be counteractive. I have other people supporting me, but I will not tell my parents.
Thanks
