can my brother go to jail?

Some guy was talking about mt brothers kids and so my brother basically told him to watch his mouth before he kicks his butt and my brother never like the guy ever and they had problems in the past.. So the guy choose to drive 75 miles to my brothers apartment which is (private property) and the manager told this guy in the past that he is not allowed back on the property. So the guy knock on his door. when my brother see the guy he tryed to beat the guy up but the guy ran and got in the car and told my brother the he cam to say sorry.. and basically my bro told him that he is going to kick his butt then the guy left. Can my bro go to jail for this? and my bro is on Probation can he be violated? Thanks everyone for ur help... California
