Can my Army Reserve unit force me to go to drill while on medical disability leave?

I had Acl Reconstruction surgery in June 3, 2009. I have given my Army Reserve unit documentation from my surgeon that says I will be "unable to fulfill my military obligations for at least 6 weeks." I received a call from my squad leader today saying that I have to come to drill this weekend or I will be put on orders next weekend and if I don't show up for that I will be AWOL. My physical therapist will be extending my disability because there was a slight complication with my surgery and I am not recovering as fast as expected. I would go to drill, but I am having difficulty walking, and can not cram into a van for 3 hours without being in a lot of pain. So my question is, is this legal? Can they force my to go to drill while on medical leave?
