Can molecule move in a vacuum condition?

I remember read somewhere of this experiment when they measure gravity on a stone and a leaf in vacuum? condition, they both fall with the same speed. In a normal condition (not vacuum) it takes longer for the leaf to fall because of lighter weight but same air friction. But I can't remember if it was vacuum. It seems strange that you can move at all in a vacuum condition, like I don't think you can squeeze a plum in the vacuum bag, unless you have not vacuumed it well.
I did not take chem in high school.
