Can Lemon Juice make highlights more bold?

i have really really dark brown hair and when the light hits it ONLY i see my highlights (which are golden brown a bit blond-ish). I've heard that lemon juice can make hair lighter, but what i want to know if it can make the highlights stand out more and how can i do that with lemon juice?
