Say your top speed on the track is sixteen miles per hour, your fastest mile time is 4 minutes 45 seconds, your fastest 800 is 2:05, can improving your maximum speed ability help your speed for longer events? (speed endurance) Say you can run a 100m dash in 13 seconds, can decreasing it to about 11 seconds help you run faster? Here's why I ask, the faster you run the longer you can hold onto paces slower then your max pace. Of course its always good to do endurance work too.
