can I write for more than one newspaper at a time?

This question is probably stupid, but hey, I'm new at this.

I'm currently writing as a correspondent for the Tampa Tribune (paid per article), and I was just offered a similar position for a smaller newspaper in my community.

Do these publications typically have restrictions on being employed by their competition?
I would hope not, I need money!
