Can I work on a Mac while learning Beginning ASP.NET 3.5: In C# and VB?

I have no programming/coding experience. I would like to begin my learning path by reading Beginning ASP.NET 3.5: In C# and VB. Will I be able to write code using the languages and platform taught in this book using a Mac? Or will I need to purchase a windows pc or laptop?
