I have been away from Canada for 4 months or so. So I wished to suspend or put a pause on my phone service. I called up to the Rogers and talk to one of the customer representatives and he said because I am currently under 3 year contract plan, all I can do is to put my plan on the cheapest one possible.
I agreed on that and paid about 36dollars every month.
The plan included 40 minutes anytime call and 150 mb data, but the guy didn't really explain much of the detail.
I returned to Canada about 25th of August and readjusted my plan.
But than my plan takes cycle on the 2nd of every month so I had to wait.
I had conversation with my friend and my boyfriend who were in my local area.
After couple of phone calls had made, I logged on to my Rogers account on the website to check how much minutes I have spent.
And when I clicked on the voice usage details, it showed remaining minutes as 40 full minutes and no used minutes ( it indicated clearly 0 as used minutes)
So i figured that maybe week night call and weekend calls are unlimited as usual.
However after I made lot of phone calls, which usually happened during weekend and week night, Rogers charged me of $501 phone bills for the usage from August 25th~ September 2nd
They did not informed me correctly how much minutes I have been using by the time. If they did so, I could have talk on skype or other alternative communicating tools.
Is this situation reasonable enough to be waived my phone bills from Rogers?
What would be the good tactics to fight against Rogers?
Rogers have been doing this for last entire year and I am not very happy with their service.
I have a willingness to leave Rogers and change my phone carrier even if it hurts my credit records.
