Can I use this extra handset phone w/o the base?

I want to buy this handset phone (Extra Handset for the Uniden DCX300 DECT6.0 Cordless Phone ) but, can I use it without the base phone? I mean, can I buy just the handset and use it as a regular phone? Will it work without the base?
