Can i use my sprint evo 4G in mexico?

I have a sprint EVO (4G), I'll be going to Mexico in a day.
Can I text to the U.S. while I am in Mexico?
Can I use my 3G in Mexico?
Do I get charged extra if I do any of the two things listed above?
