i have been doing some research on how to use my new htc hero as a modem on my computer since i dont have internet on it "desktop windows vista home premuim", and the answer is Yes!!!!,
after trying so many methods i found the most simple way.
after you have installed Htc Sync and the drivers that come with it, go to the android market and search for PDAnet app, download to your sd card and then mount your htc unto your computer"connect usb'' on downloads open the pdanet file so it can download onto your computer once its installed you would have to restart your computer and on your phone from the pdanet app select the usb tether option then it will say its connected, then look on your computer where the little icons are at in the corner and your gonna see a little phone modem just press on it and it should connect, now you have free internet on your laptop or desktop. its a must have app and a must have phone, best phone i have ever purchased, bought it at Best Buy for 99$ with instant rebates worth every penny. and not just that you can do tons of things on it. hopes this helps.
