hallucinatory whirlpool on salvia? So most of the time when i smoke salvia divinorum, i fall into this confusing illusion. it is an intense experience, and while it is happening it is hard for me to tell exactly 'how' it is changed. i will start moving my arms around to experiment with this bizarre new perception, and i'll see my arms moving around. it is amazing and intense and makes no sense when it is happening, but at the same time it makes sense, in a way.

this is known as a hallucinatory whirlpool, which is a phenomenon described in The Psychadelic Experience: A manuel based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead written with help of Timothy Leary. According to them, people become trapped in hallucinatory whirlpool (which is a confusing, bizarre illusion) when they attempt to rationalize their psychedelic experience-they try to categortize what they are perceiving. From the book, he writes. 'The key is inaction: passive integration with all that occurs around you. If you try to impose your will, use your mind, rationalize, seek explanations, you will get caught in hallucinatory whirlpools.'

so if i want to have a meaningful salvia trip and avoid the hallucinatory whirlpools i keep falling in, then couldn't i use meditation to learn to quite my mind and prevent my mind from rationalizing the experience? couldn't ti get more out of the salvia experience if i practice meditation everyday?
salvia doesnt "mess up" your brain. it acts as any other psychadelic in that it reveals things form your subconscious.
