Can I use iChat to talk with my friends that use Google talk/chat?

I use the newest version of iChat and I want to talk with friends who use Google talk / chat. Can I do that and how?
Apple iChat 5.0.1
Mac OS X 10.6.2
I dont want to use Google Talk/Chat... I want to talk to other people who use it. If my friend has Google and I have iChat can we talk to each other?
 
Yes, you can do it. Just add a new account from the preferences (command + ,) You can add your gmail id (in the Jabber ID box) and password, and get started.
All the functionality of Gtalk/chat will be available, apart from the 'invisibility' feature.
