Can I use free Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 express edition for college course?

I am taking the class Visual basic programming and the class calls for a 180 day subscription to the program Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 but I found this free express edition on the microsoft website and was wondering if that would work or would it lack all the features of the normal program
