can i use an original xbox headset for 360?

im going to get one from a friend and im windering if i can use it for 360 cuz its original xbox headset

yes but the black thing that goes in to the old controller does not work u must take it off it is the thing that controls volume and muting it ..... unplug the cord which it plugs into
