Can I use an N73 in S. Korea?

Hello,
I'm considering a move to S Korea and I'm wondering I'd be able to use an N73 while out there. I see that the phone supports GSM and some form of CDMA. Any chance this would work?

If so, does anybody know anything about Korean cell service providers that could suggest a good one to work with?

Ideally, I'd like to find a cell phone that could run Skype, and I know there is a Skype implementation for the n73.

Thanks,
JC

Thanks for your helpful response. This is good news.

A quick follow-up question. This comes from the N73 tech specs on the Nokia site:

Dualmode WCDMA/GSM and quadband GSM coverage on up to five continents (WCDMA2100/EGSM850/900/1800/1900 networks)

So the UMTS 2100 networks that you're referring to would be the 'WCDMA2100' mode referenced above? Does that suggest that this phone would work fine in Seoul as well as in other parts of Asia and the US?

Do you know if this a phone that any of the Korean carriers offer, or is the N73 something I would have to buy before moving to S. Korea?

Thanks again for your help.

Yep. W-CDMA 2100 is the same as UMTS 2100.

I'm not sure if those two carriers offer a Nokia 3G phone. Their websites aren't very helpful either.

If you were roaming there from a Philippine carrier (e.g. Globe or Smart) and you were on prepaid, then you should know that 3G roaming on a prepaid SIM from the Philippines is not allowed yet. Only postpaid.

If you were roaming using T-Mobile, then I'm not sure what the problem is.

yah i had that same problem...worked great in the Philippine's it just used smart the whole time!! but once i tried in korea it said no network, and man there wifi in there airport sucks, i got a dl rate of 10kbs!!

I'm coming from NYC and I have Cingular with my ROAM on..

Well I was going to Philippines and stopped over @ Korea 1st.. I Have a N70 then.

No signal on S Korean soil using my Cingular. When I arrived in the Philippines as soon the plane landed I already have bars Cingular roaming on Smart.

Did you have UMTS enabled when you were in S Korea? Of course it worked in the Philippines on Smart they are a native GSM carrier.
