can i use a water damaged 2g iphone's digitizer to replace my non functioning digitizer?

i have an iphone 2g that has a dysfunctional digitizer and i dont want to spend $199 to get it fixed so i was thinking about going on ebay and buying a water damaged iphone for $30 and using the digitizer from that. will this work? or will the digitizer be broken from the water? thanks
