Can I use a nikon sport blackpowder scope on my 20 ga. shotgun?

I just bought a nikon sport black powder scope, i forget the model, its the one thats bigger on one side and small on the other. its not that long of a scope it costed about 180 from fleet farm. i was wondering if i could mount it on my 870 20 ga shotgun, i know that the recoil can damage scopes, so i wanted to check before i fire my gun with it on. i have all the mounting gear and i know how, i simply want to know if it will break the scope. the model i assume it is, is the monarch african model. idk any more than that. THANKS!!!!!!
 
I think so if the mounts work..... shotguns use around 1-4.5x,1-7x some 3x9 scopes if that is what you have. But,the only way is to try it... if you have a good rail on your shotgun to mount it. Good Luck!
