can I use a bass amp with a metal distortion pedal and guitar?

My guitar half stack got messed up and it looks like I'm going to have to use a bass amp for awhile.
The guitar amp had all the distortion built in I could ask for, so I don't have a distortion pedal to my name. I have a 500watt bass half stack though. It's a stripped down model. Just clean.
 
yes you can do this; quality of the sound will depend on the amp/speakers, but it will work and you won't break anything

Truthfully, with the right pedals, you probably wouldn't know the diff
