Can I update 3GS to 4.0.1 & jailbreak it, with old firmware ???

I have a couple of Questions:

1) I have iPhone 3GS the old version(3.0) with modem firmware 04.26.08 & I have jailbreak it & unlock it since its came locked.. and, I want to update it to the latest version(4.0.1). but, I'm wondering if I can jailbreak it & unlock it when I update it...

2) Is it possible to restore it to an old version if a problem occurred ??

3) Will all of my apps(the cracked & the free) will works when I update it ?? all they will be gone ?? since, I heard that the cracked apps will be gone & I have to add them again manually ...

4) Do you recommended me to do the update ??
 
Hi, if u updated your iphone to the last version of OS which is 4.01 you will not be able to jailbreak or unlock your IPHONE again. coz till now there is no solution for IPHONE 3GS OS4 or OS4.01 so be patiente till they get a solution for it and then you can update your iphone.
 
1-Since your iphone was on 3.0 so it can be possible you are on old boot, so you have a chance to update to iOS4 Custom Firmware,( Only 4.0 since there is No Custom Firmware for 4.0.1 ), so you can unlock it after restore with custom firmware,
BUT YOU MUST BE SURE THAT YOUR IPHONE IS ON OLDBOOT, USE IDEVICE TO MAKE SURE.
2-As mention on the 1-Answer, if you are on oldboot you can up and down regardless to blob save.

3-Since you update to new iOS, so some will work some will not, you need to update these applications as well.

4-As for my own idea you should "COME INTO THE NEW WORLD OF iOS" It's wonderful eventhought it will make your iPhone alittle bit slow,.

I guess I will wait till the jailbreak be available to 4.0.1... & I hope that it will not be custom firmware & for all firmware..

I think the jailbreak should be available withing a week right ?? They delay it since, they have an issue with face time, right ??
